Samantha Smyth-Chandler

My name is Mrs. Smyth-Chandler and I teach Algebra 2 and Liberal Arts Math 2 this year.  I have been a math educator for 12 years and love bringing out AH-HA moments. I have a Chemical Engineering degree from the University of Alabama and a teaching certificate from Pensacola State College.

I am also the current National Honor Society sponsor.  I am excited to work with students on community service and leadership!

Personal Statement to Students:

My goal is for everyone in my classes to learn all of the required material. I desire for all of my students to do well and earn the highest grade possible. I believe that each student can learn and will do their best.  The more effort you put in, the more I will be able to help you.  I will not make assignments just to keep you busy and therefore, I expect you to do all assignments to the best of your ability.  Assignments are necessary to learn and retain the material. Attendance is also necessary. If you miss a class it is your responsibility to visit Google classroom to see what you missed. Assignments and notes are posted daily.  If you ever need help with assignments, you can come to me before school for help on A rotation days. It has been my experience that a student gets as much out of a class as they put into it.  If you participate in class, complete all assignments and ask for help as needed you should have no problem being successful.

Respect for others is required in my classes.  You, your classmates, and I are all in this together.  Problems can be avoided with good communication.  I will endeavor to always communicate clearly with you and you must do the same.  If you have any questions about policies, grades, assignments, something I have said, or anything else, please come and speak to me.  I will be glad to meet with you to discuss any problem you may have.

 To the Parent:

If you ever have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email me or to schedule a conference. I will communicate grades to you through Focus online. I update Focus almost every day.  As I mentioned above, clear communication is key to solving problems.  If you have any concerns please send a note by your child or email me. If we need to meet, I am available before school.
